Yes, completely free. Lychee is a personal open-source expense tracking app. All features — bookkeeping, AI analysis, OCR scanning, multi-device sync, data export, annual reports — are fully free. If our strategy ever changes, we will notify users well in advance.
We use multiple layers of security: HTTPS encryption in transit, Salted SHA-256 password hashing, Fernet encryption for sensitive fields, and optional E2EE (end-to-end encryption) where the key stays entirely in your hands. Data is stored on our own NAS server and is never sold or shared with any third party.
Yes, anytime. Go to Settings and click Export Data to download all records as a JSON file. We recommend exporting regular backups — it is the most reliable way to protect your data.
AI analysis generates spending trends and summaries based on your ledger data. It is for reference only and cannot replace professional financial planning. AI may produce hallucinations or biases. For important financial decisions, please consult licensed professionals.
Yes. Data is stored in the cloud and synced automatically across all devices logged into your account. Record on your phone and review on your computer — all data stays consistent. Offline entries sync automatically when you go online.
As a personally maintained free service, we cannot promise perpetual operation. However, we commit to giving at least 30 days advance notice before any shutdown, with data export fully available during that period. We strongly recommend making regular backups — it is the best way to protect your data.
